Summary:

Circle Community is an innovative charity founded to help unemployed young people acquire and develop the workplace skills, confidence, positive mindset and self-discipline needed to secure life-changing permanent employment.
The Social-Media, Communications & Admin Intern role will help to build our brand to support our recent growth and future expansion. The role’s main objectives are to help us tell our story in a way that increases our visibility, grows our followers, and builds awareness of the work we do, especially to our key audiences including young people who would benefit from targeted recruitment. The successful post-holder will also work with our young people and our teams across the organisation to improve the impact and effectiveness of our social media campaigns and complete any ad-hoc admin tasks related to the role.

What is the job purpose?

The Social-Media, Communications & Admin Paid Internship role is a new position that has been created to help build our brand to support our recent growth and future expansion. The role will report to the Director of Operations in the charity but will work closely and be supported by the CEO, the Retail Manager and the Partnerships Manager across the charity and the social enterprise. The role’s main objectives are to:

  • Help us tell our story in a way that increases our visibility, grows our followers, and builds awareness of the work we do, especially to our key audiences including young people who would benefit from targeted recruitment to our charity Back Your Future.
  • Increase the numbers of young people signing up to our employment programme.
  • Communicate with employers, particularly in Canary Wharf, with whom we could partner to offer entry-level jobs for young people and volunteering/pro bono/other opportunities for their staff.
  • Engage with existing and potential Circle Collective shoppers for each of our different stores and our online offer.
  • Work with our young people and our teams across the organisation to improve the impact and effectiveness of our social media campaigns.
  • Complete any ad-hoc admin tasks related to the role such as research, data entry, managing systems and taking note of upcoming strategic plans from the Senior Management Team (SMT). This will take around 20-25% of the role.

What are the Internship duties?

The Social Media, Communications and Admin ( Paid Internship) role is a twelve-month paid Internship to begin during March 2024, supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation. You must be ready take up the post by 29th March 2024.

As part of this role, you will be part of the Jack Petchey Internship Programmewith 30 other interns from different youth organisations in London and Essex. This development programme will involve you attending a launch conference, four professional development workshops through the year and a celebration event at the end of the programme. You will receive an extra training bursary of £1,000 for approved training. You will also be matched with a mentor from another organisation to support you in your professional development. The Jack Petchey Internship Programme training and events will take place in person in London and you will be expected to take full part in this programme alongside your role at Circle Community.

What are the main duties?

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual to take responsibility for building our brand and developing our tone of voice across all our social media platforms alongside the senior management team. Circle collective has two sides of the business, the retail social enterprise and the charity. You will support and work alongside the retail manager and wider retail teams to promote products and campaigns to boost sales and traffic to the online webstore. You will also work with the charity team who will support with content to celebrate their outcomes of young people finding employment and our various partnerships.

Social Media and Communications Duties:

  • Working across all our teams you will be expected to design and plan our seasonal social media calendar to increase footfall and sales in our retail stores and our online platform, build our brand awareness and support the charity by increasing online referrals to our employment programme.
  • You will be responsible for designing, editing and publishing a range of creative, varied content (including original text/images/video) across all our platforms in a way that builds meaningful connections and encourages different audiences to engage with the charity, our retail stores and our website.
  • Be proactive in bringing ideas to the management team that will develop and build our social media tone of voice, presence and increase the effectiveness of our communications strategy.
  • Create regular newsletters to our community of young people and our supporters.
  • Deliver social media workshops for the young people on our programmes. This workshop will be a 2 hour workshop delivered once a month to any young people interested in social media and communications so they can improve their skillset, get involved in campaigns and support the role.

Admin Duties:

  • You will be able to track engagement metrics across our social platforms, share this data and make recommendations that support the implementation of best practices across the wider team.
  • Use analytics to monitor and track our followers and Brand awareness impact.
  • Research other brands, best practices and understand ways to improve our existing strategy.
  • Recording all activities against KPI’s and updating our internal data capturing systems.

Person Specification:

  • Must share the team’s social values
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  •  Proficient in all Microsoft packages and social media platforms.
  • Must have experience in social media and communications either through previous paid or voluntary opportunities or via their own social channels or personal projects.
